The Ice Hotel

 

The Ice Hotel is a magical place. Located in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden about 120 miles above the Arctic Circle, it is the first and largest Ice Hotel in the world. There are two options when staying here; the original Ice Hotel that is rebuilt each year from sculpted blocks of ice that are taken from the Torne River, or the 365 building which is open year round. The 365 building comes equipped with your suite, a private warm room, bathroom and sauna. The suites each have a unique theme designed and sculpted by artists from all over the world. One suite named ‘Wishful Thinking’ includes a second story sphere where you can sit down and enjoy champagne from your ice glasses.

The Tips

 

  • The Ice Hotel will provide you with warm gear if needed.

  • The beds are extremely warm. All you need while sleeping is long underwear, warm socks, and a stocking hat.

 

  • The original Ice Hotel does not provide private warm rooms, only shared facilities. The 365 suites include a private warm room including a bathroom, hot shower and sauna.
