Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

This is the largest mosque in the UAE and it is a key place of worship for daily prayers. It’s a beautiful place with so much intricate detail to appreciate, you can spend hours here. At a cost of more than a half a billion dollars, this work of architectural art took more than 10 years to build and is made from marble imported from five different countries. It’s size allows it to accommodate more than 40 thousand worshipers, including seven thousand in the main prayer hall. Women are required to wear an abaya to cover their head and neck - you can rent them there. Everyone is required to remove their shoes prior to entering the main prayer hall. Regardless of your faith, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a stunning display of art and architecture and is a can’t miss activity in Abu Dhabi.
