The Tips

 

  • Purchase your bus tickets in Aguas Calientes the day before you go to Machu Picchu.

  • The line for the bus to and from Machu Picchu can be very long. If you go early and leave early, this will reduce line times.

  • Long Pants, bug spray and essential oils are recommended for Sand Flies and Mosquitoes.

  • The guided group tours online are expensive and it is unnecessary to sign up for these.

  • Much of the info online says you are required to have a guide. You do not need to have one, but we do recommend hiring a private guide upon arrival at Macchu Pichu which will cost about $80-100 including tip.
