Vixen Shipwreck

 

The vixen was an armored gunboat that first launched in 1865. She was purposefully sunk in 1896 where she now rests offshore from Daniel’s Head on the west side of Bermuda. She is accessible by glass bottom boat through one of the island tours of the reefs, or by renting your own boat through one of the many tour companies. Another option is to rent a Boston Whaler so you can see the Vixen as well as visit other resorts and small islands in the area.

The Tips

 

  • You can snorkel around the ship to view the coral reefs, however it can be dangerous with the tour boats in the area.

 

  • The water can get choppy in this area so it’s not always smooth sailing to visit the Vixen.
